Injured anti-globalisation activists are seen by medics after clashes with police during a protest against the G8 summit in Genoa 21 July 2001. Italian police and protestors clashed Saturday on the second day of protests in the Mediterranean city hosting the Group of Eight (G8) summit. Police repeatedly fired tear gas at groups of protestors who broke away from a crowd of some 50,000 demonstrators, most of whom filed peacefully through the streets of the ancient port city.
